Can you believe how quickly 2015 is wrapping up? As we are booking our 2016 and 2017 brides, it is never lost on us how fast a year goes by. We have such sweet memories of our 2015 couples and many will be celebrating anniversaries before they know it. We thought we would share with you some of our favorite wedding dresses that have graced the Ashelynn Manor aisle this year, along with a few tips about choosing a dress that is a stunning dress just for you! Pattern Play
The striking combination of the geometric print and feminine ruffles made this dress flirty and fun, and an absolute show stopper. If you want to add some dimension to your dress, look for something with a little pattern. You may even want it to give a nod to the theme of your wedding. If you are doing a theme that includes geometric details, something like this would be perfect. If you are incorporating a floral print into your wedding decor, a floral applique may be even more suited. (P.S.-We love adding a print to your wedding decor. It adds so much interest!)
The Back Story
Look just a gorgeous coming and you did going! It’s a fact that your guests will spend the majority of your ceremony looking at your back. Give some though to what the back of your dress looks like as well. We love one with button details or lace detail just like this one!
It’s the Audrey Hepburn of wedding dresses. A full lace gown in a classic silhouette is a guaranteed way to look polished, classic and sophisticated, but can also lend itself beautifully to a rustic or vintage themed wedding. If you are feeling stuck and not finding something you love, start trying on some lace dresses. You will feel instantly like a bride.
Touch of Color
A new trend is to add some color to your wedding gown. While some brides are choosing to forgo the white wedding trend all together and wear blush, baby blue or even black gowns, we have seen many ways to add a smidgen of color without ditching the classic white look. You can dye your petticoat or wear bold shoes that pop color when they peek out. Another way is to add a sash in a color. It will define your waist and instantly dress up a simple gown. This bride wore a blush sash that matched her bridesmaids.
Necklines in Mind
Did you know there are 12 different kinds of necklines for wedding dresses and designers create many variations of each! A neckline is so important to not just how you look, but how you will feel on your wedding day. Decide on the necklines that are most flattering on you, but also look at how comfortable that one is to wear. For example, you may look stunning in a strapless dress, but won’t appreciate tugging on a dress that is not staying up when you want to dance. So much of what makes a dress comfortable is in the neckline and bodice of the dress!
Will your party last well into the night? This dress was stunning during the day, but was equally magical at night! The way the lace bodice and details caught the light in evening shot was so beautiful. You may want to think about a dress with beading or jewels that will catch the light, especially if your ceremony or reception will have low-lighting.
Ashelynn Manor was made for brides with trains. Our gorgeous staircase with a long train flowing down the steps. The classic chapel with a lace train spilling down the aisle. Oh, and even our lovely garden gazebo look stunning with a long flowy train against our bright green grass. Sigh. We love a train and it is so bridal. Some brides worry that a train will be uncomfortable. Try a dress on that has a train if you think you may want one. You can always bustle it for the reception!
Second to your neckline, choose a silhouette that complements your body type. We loved the Hollywood-style glam of this trumpet style gown. Don’t ever rule out a dress until you have tried it on and try on a few different kinds of silhouettes. You really never know what will look fabulous on your body until you put it on.
Infuse Your Personality
I think one of the most striking things about this gown is that the simple ethereal dress just embodies the brides personality and fits perfectly with her earthy sunflower floral crown. The best dress is the one that really embodies your personality and is an extension of your everyday style. Our 2015 brides were stunning because they wore dresses that reflected their best self and that is always in style.
